This took a lot longer than I hoped. For the Red Bubble Art Party Challenge!

A very uplifting and serene piece. The monkey design is by far the best part; he is simply adorable. The fireworks in themselves look beautiful; adding a texture to them (or using a texture brush which I guess is what you did here...) makes them come alive and burst with colour and interest.
The style of shading works nicely however it could be jazzed up a little more. For example, add another layer of shading to indicate secondary shading of both the monkey and the temple wing. It will just add more depth to the scene. Another option is to use gradients for the shading instead of or as well as solid layers of shading. With Adobe Illustrator it is rather easy to apply a gradient to an already defined shape.
One more suggestion is to have the green firework explode elsewhere, such as top right corner, because it draws attention away from the yellow firestar that the monkey is holding. Perhaps adding a little blur to the fireworks will send them further to the back so the viewer can focus on the main focal point - the happy monkey.
